Registration for One World, Many Stories, the 2011 Summer Reading Program, begins Tuesday June 21st and is open until Monday August 8th. Participants can log and review their summer reading progress until Friday August 26th, when the program officially ends. If readers are participating in the Barnes and Noble Passport to Summer Reading, Borders Summer Reading Double-Dog Dare Challenge, or TD Bank Summer Reading Program those books count towards our program, too! Feel free to triple dip :)
Participants who read up to 10 hours are eligible to claim one of our cool reading patches. And there's no limit! Read 20 hours, claim two patches; 30 hours, claim 3 patches. If you read 40 hours you can claim a special drawstring backpack! Also, each week of the program, one reader will be chosen at random to win one of our cool raffle prizes. But you need to read to win!
In addition, the Walpole Public Library is taking part in the Heifer International Read to Feed program. The Friends of the Walpole Public Library have put forward a $200.00 donation, and the summer readers can decide how to distribute it. Using the Summer Reading Bingo card as a guide, children earn a vote for each completed square. The Read to Feed Program is a fantastic way for children to make a difference in the world with every book they read.

I am a big fan of this book! My favorite part is when Fudge let's his myna bird, Uncle Feather, out of his cage after Sheila opens all the windows. Sheila of course gets Uncle Feather back. This book will make you laugh out loud!
