Recentley in Out of my Mind, a young 11 year girl, Melody, is disabled. Not only is she disabled, but she can't talk or speak, and inside she is a genius. But noones knows that. Melody wants to share how smart she is to the world, but how in the world can she do that if she can't talk. She is treated like she is a young child, in a classroom with disabled who are much less capable than she is. But the school doesn't know that, and neither do her parents. Melody will just have to find her own way to tell the world that she is smart. Just because you are different than everyone else, doesn't mean you're not smart. melody is a VERY smart girl, and she is capable of a lot. Friends and family, people at school don't know she is ready to move on from shapes and colors.

Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs is a story that two kids' grampa tells them as a bedtime story. It's a very funny story about people who get food from the sky and store the extra food if they get hungry between meals. It is a good story for young children because it tells about people who go to a restaurant and food falls from the sky, like the page where frankfurters are falling.
