Welcome to Teen Summer Challenge! Registration begins on June 8th, 2011. You can begin logging entries and earning points on June 20th, 2011.

This summer, you'll be earning prizes based on a points system. When you track your reading online, you'll be eligible for regular prizes every two weeks (this is the basic level of participation). The more you read, the better the prize. To earn even more amazing prizes, you need to come into the library, fill out a points card at the reference desk, and receive 1 official raffle ticket for every 500 points you earn that week. Enter it into the weekly drawing, you might just win some incredible prize (on display so you know what you're playing for). If you want to compete for the big prizes, you'll be responsible for keeping track of your own points.

Here's a handy conversion chart to help you out:

Write a review = 25 points
Read for 30 minutes = 50 points
Attend a program = 100 points
Volunteer for the Teen Librarian for 1 hour = 100 points
Upload a Video Review = 150 points

The Janitor's Boy by Andrew Clements. I liked this book - it was good. It was a fun-filled romp about how Jack would get closer to his dad and appreciate his job as the janitor more. I laughed. I cried. OK, seriously, I did like this book. It was about a boy named Jack who didn't think much of his dad's job as a janitor. He went to work with his dad because he vandalized a desk and that was his punishment. He learned a lot about his dad and about what it means to do your job well. I recommend it.

The book "Maximum Ride - The Angel Experiment" is a thrill that any reader will enjoy! Follow Maximum Ride, or Max, as she fights her way through certain death all to save her and her "family" from the evil scientists of the School. Filled with drama, suspense, and moments that will make you reach out to these poor children, I give this book 5 well-deserved stars for being the best required reading book I've ever read!
