Welcome to the 2013 Teen Summer Reading Program. This program is open to Haverhill teens entering grades 6 - 12 in the fall and those who graduated from high school in June. You can record books June 24th through September 1st.

For every book that you record, the Friends of the Haverhill Public Library will donate $1 to the Haverhill Gazette Santa Fund. If you submit a short book review (why you liked, or didn't like the book) the Friends of the Haverhill Public Library will donate another $1 to the Haverhill Gazette Santa Fund.

For each time you record 4 books, you will win a free appetizer from UNOs. (Check out UNOs appetizer menu here. Yum!)

Read an interesting review and now you want to read the book? You can go directly to the book's listing in the library catalog by clicking on the book cover at the end of the review (click on view all reviews if you do not see the book cover).

In between the time you're reading all those great books, come visit us at the library too! There's lots of neat summer reading programs at the library. Don't miss the fun, prizes and excitement of summer reading.

The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy
Review
I read this book because it was recommended to me by my friend in 8th grade. At first when I heard parts of it I shook the idea of such a ridiculous story, but after reading it this summer I found out how great it was! In this crazy story about "human" nature from all perspectives and the journey of poor Arthur Dent who at times seems to be the only one who makes sense in the Galaxy I found myself full of giggles at the jokes, and snide remarks from all the lovable characters. The number 42 will forever be in my mind and whenever I see those little furry rodents i'll run for my life, and I will never EVER leave my house without a towel in hand.
