Messenger is the third book in The Giver series and the main character is a boy named Matt/Matty who lives with a blind man named Seer. The village they live in is different from the villages from the first 2 books because many people in this village are people who were pushed out of the other villages because they were considered not worth keeping around because they were deformed or hurt. Here in this village everyone is welcomed but they must stay in the village and not enter the forest because if they ignore the earnings they'll end up dying. The only person who can go through the forest to other villages safely is Matty who becomes the official messenger for the village. People start trading at the Trade Mart and they begin to change becoming mean or better looking and stopping wanting people to join their village. It makes you think the trading is evil and you wonder what they are trading. During this time Matty is sent by Seer to bring his daughter Kira (from Gathering Blue) back to the village before she won't be allowed in but they get caught by The Forest and Matty has to save them and everyone in the village by placing his hands on the ground and healing the Forest and village even though he'll die. After he saves everyone his name is changed from Messenger to Healer.

This book is definately a page turner. It is a murder mystery that ties all of the murders together. There is a lot of foreshadowing that helps you follow along with what is happening in the book.

This is my favorite book! I love the character Jonas because he is very unique. I like the character The Giver because he is very set apart from the rest of The Community and you always want to learn more about him. I think it is sad that there are no emotions or colors in the community and that everyone is exactly the same. Finally, I love the bond between Jonas and Gabriel.

Gathering Blue is the second book in the Giver series. It's about a girl Kira who is given the job of repairing a special robe for The Council. She has a deformed leg so without this job she would've been left outside of the village to die so it's a really important job. She learns how to dye threads different colors (except nobody knows how to make the color blue) and embroider the robe to help tell the story of the village over the years. As time goes on she realized that everything isn't add it seems and The Council is controlling the lives of everyone.

I love this book! Not the killing but the story of how Katniss sacrificed herself in place of her sister Prim when Prim was chosen for the game. Katniss was really smart and fought to survive when she was put in the game. It was sad when people were dying and scary at times but I really like how Katniss and Peeta won together at the end by tricking the government.
